February in the 505

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it seemed to drag on a little this time, possibly because we have a lot to look forward to in March; three family Birthdays (including Addy's), a baby shower and hopefully the first glimpse of spring. I love spring!

So here's what we have been up to while we anxiously awaiting the change of the season.

Five for Friday

Check out other Fridays here.

1. You make me laugh when you talk about the side effects of only eating juice for lunch. I won't repeat them since it seems mildly inappropriate, kind of like me accidentally teaching Addy the word "fart."
2. At the end of the day, you always talk about how sweet Addy is.
3. When making fun of our upcoming girls night, you referenced Downton Abbey, Etsy, Pinterest and the Pioneer Woman in silly ways.
4. You said you almost got your first convert to juicing.
5. On Sunday you woke up, plunged the toilet, made french toast for Addy and her cousin, fixed the sink, cleaned the sink up when it flooded and did all of this with out grumbling. A day of rest, it was not.

P.S. I love you :)

A Random List for This Snowy Day

- We woke up to snow this morning. I guess the gopher was right and winter will be sticking around a little longer. Bummer.

- At least that means, cute kids beanies (like the ones in my Etsy shop, wink wink) will be in demand a little longer

- I've already had a few sales from my shop, which is more than I ever expected to happen.

- Speaking of Etsy, I'm addicted. I have the app on my phone and I've found way to many things to spend money on. It's like shopping at a cute little boutique in your pjs.

- The other day, Addy asked to listen to "the clapping song" on our church's Cause for Praise CD. It's such a little thing but it made my heart happy and hopeful that the little effort I am making in putting Christ-centered things around her, isn't for nothing.

- I've tried to watch the Downton Abbey season finale online 3 days in a row, at apparently the same time everyone else is because the video won't load. Grr!

- During my first prenatal appointment, the doctor told me that things would start to fall apart a lot faster this time around and boy was she right! I'm not even 20 weeks yet but I feel like I could be entering my third trimester; so many aches and pains that I don't remember happening at this stage last time.

- I've never been much of a baker but I think we might have to make baking a regular activity. I love that it's something Addy and I can do together and since I've developed a little bit of a sweet tooth during my second trimester, I wouldn't mind having sweets around. My hips might not feel the same way though.

- We got to spend all of last weekend with Addy's cousin Carter. It was great but now we all miss our little buddy and Addy goes around saying "I miss Carcar!"

- Matt and I watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" last night and we're determined that that won't be us. So, today, we are off to the store to buy lots of fruits and veggies to juice. Addy had some lettuce, carrott, apple and orange juice last night and she didn't hate it!

Happy Thursday Friends! Stay warm!

Five for Friday Valentine's Edition

To my Valentine of 8 years,

I love that you brought home roses for me and a granola bar for Addy.
I love that you took Addy out to lunch on Valentine's Day and that I got to tag along.
I love that you created a "How Well Do We Know Each Other" survey for our 8th Valentine's Day.
I love that we got the same score (even though technically, I won) and that I actually found out new things about you. (Lance Armstrong? Really? J/K).
I love that your career hero is my Grandpa.

Love,

Your forever Valentine.

P.S. Did you know that in another 8 years we will have a 10 year old, Lord willing, an 8 year old and who knows how many other kids, pets, houses, cars, hobbies, etc. Yikes!

I {Heart} Valentine's Day!

I love Valentine's Day. Partly because everything is pink and red and glittery and so much fun, but mostly because Matt asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentine's Day, 8 years ago. Wow!

We've really been feeling the love in our house this week, making Valentine's, baking cookies and going out to lunch. I've always liked this holiday, but it's even more fun with a kiddo.

Hope your day is filled with lots of love!

Almost Two

In less than one month our little lady will be two years old. We started making plans for the big day this weekend and have decided on a small family celebration in lieu of a big party. We asked Addy what she wanted for her Birthday and she asked for an orange and a dress. So, I'm going to look into either buying or making her an orange dress. And since her favorite color happens to be orange at the moment, I think we'll have an orange theme to our little celebration.

I might be the worse mother ever, because with almost two birthdays under our belt, I've never really been sad about Addy growing up. I actually get excited about it. Of course I miss our sweet cuddly baby and savor the moments when Addy isn't too busy to lay in my lap for awhile, but I'm also looking forward to having full conversations with her, to family game nights and teaching her all about the saving Grace of Jesus.

I plan on doing another post on Addy's "stats" closer to her Birthday, but I also wanted to share a few other things about our almost-two-year-old.

Addy loves to help and she especially loves to help her Dad. Sometimes when she's sitting in her highchair, she'll point to all the little house projects she helped with and say "I help Da!"

Addy also loves to "draw." Drawing can occupy her for up to an hour but there's actually no drawing or coloring involved. What she really likes to do is empty the crayon box, line all her crayons up, mourn over the broken crayons, put them all back in the box and then start the process all over again. She knows most of her colors and only has trouble saying "yellow" and "purple."

Addy has become a little home body. When we come home from running errands, she runs around the living room saying, "I cited home!" (I'm excited to be home) And last week when I asked if she wanted to go on a walk to the park, she said "No, I home." She's perfectly content to spend an entire day at home, watching shows, cooking in her kitchen and drawing.

What a fun two years we've had with this little one.

17 Weeks with Baby D

Today marks 17 weeks with little Baby D nestled safely in my belly.

With the exception of an insurance complication, which put me at the doctor's much later than I would have liked, things have been much more laid back this time around. We're only taking belly bump pics every couple of weeks and since we plan on the little one living in our closet for a few months, Im not feeling stressed about planning the perfect nursery before my due date. We're definitely excited though and I'm thankful that God has relieved me of the anxiety I was feeling before getting to the doctor. So, here's what's been going on with Baby D these last four months.

11 weeks on New Years Eve!

I was still dealing some morning sickness and craving Chinese food, Orange Juice, Club Soda with lemon (my morning sickness cure) and salty potato chips.

15 Weeks

According to my What to Expect App, the baby was the size of an orange and I ran out of pants that would button over my growing belly.

17 Weeks

These past couple of weeks brought some exciting moments. I was able to hear the Baby's heartbeat, felt little baby flutters and even had people asking me if I was expecting another one.

Praise the Lord for 17 sweet weeks with our precious baby.

Five for Fridays

1. You always bring my water bottle to me when you find it in random places in the house. Thanks for making sure I stay hydrated.
2. You helped clean the house on Sunday before church and it made the day so relaxing
3. Thanks to you, "Joe Flacco, you're gonna get sacked-o" is always stuck in my head.
4. You taught Addy how to play Mouse Trap while I was at the grocery store
5. Addy and I had a great day at home yesterday. Thanks for working so hard so we can stay home together.

P.S. I love you :)

Good Bye January

I don't know about you, but I'm kind of glad to say good-bye to January. I'm ready for warm weather and February might not be warm but it gets us one step closer to the Spring.

January found us recovering from holidays, finally coming out of the first trimester morning sickness fog and trying to get better about our eating habits.

Happy New Year!
