Five for Friday

1. You spent your entire Saturday out in the cold wind working on our backyard
2. You always try to give me a break of some sort on the weekends by taking Addy on random errands with you
3. Looking into life insurance and discussing my possible (and unlikely) death made you sad.
4. After church on Sunday you told me how pretty you thought I looked pregnant.
5. On top of being probably the best Dad ever, you're also a pretty awesome uncle. Your two, soon to be three, nephews are lucky little guys!

P.S. I love you :)

Five for Friday

1. You've thanked me for dinner every night this week even though some of those meals definitely didn't deserve it.
2. You're encouraging us as a family to do things with a purpose.
3. You've been helping me stretch out at night, sorry I'm such a baby about it.
4. You were super excited about corn beef and cabbage on St. Patty's Day.
5. "Oh! Dad home!" Best part of my day too

P.S. I love you :)

A Very Orange Birthday

Last Saturday we got to celebrate Adelyne's 2nd Birthday.

She was recovering from a nasty little cold, but we were still able to have a fun filled day that was all about her.

Over breakfast that morning, we asked Addy what she wanted to do that day. Her first request was to play the "Mouse Game" with Grandma and Grandpa.

Mousetrap is one of her Dad's favorites and sometimes the three of us will play a round on a Friday or Saturday night. She often asks to play during the week too so this was a special treat to play first thing in the morning.

Next on the agenda was to pick out a Birthday gift. Matt had his heart set on getting her a new baby doll that she could dress, feed and do their hair. We came home with a cute little Cabbage Patch Kid named Kimber and a blue and orange football. Addy picked both of them out herself.

Our shopping adventure was followed by lunch at Chic-Fil-A and that evening we had a small family Birthday Party. I made an orange creamsicle cake, chocolate cupcakes with orange frosting and Grandmarie brought over orange ice cream.

Cousin Carter surprised Addy with orange and pink balloons.

Addy's homemade Birthday Dress

My first layered cake! I think I have enough patience to do this once a year.

After we sang to her I asked her what she does next and she said "Eat Cupcakes!" She forgot the make a wish part.

FINALLY time to eat cupcakes!

Sweet little two year old hands all covered in scratches from playing outside.

What a fun way to celebrate two years of life with Addy Grace!

Were so thankful she gets to grow up surrounded by great family and friends.

P.S. Thanks to Addy's Auntie Morgan for capturing our fun day :)

21.5 Weeks

Yesterday, at 21 1/2 weeks, Matt and I got to see our newest little peanut during an ultrasound.

I was having a hard time getting excited since we'd done this once before and wouldn't be finding out the sex but it was surprisingly just as fun and exciting the second time around.

So far, Pearl, as we've started calling him/her, is much different from her big sister. At 20 weeks, Addy was in the perfect spot and we were able to get the cutest little profile picture of her. This baby was being bashful, had her head buried in my tummy and wouldn't let us get a good look at her. But that just means we get to go back for another ultrasound in a few weeks.

He has taken after his big sister in some ways though, like sleeping on his head?!?  (Addy is a stomach, butt in the air sleeper) The ultrasound picture didn't come out great, so I won't share it (and who really thinks ultrasound pics are cute besides the proud parents?), but it looks like he's upside down. Silly baby!

That's one proud papa who semi-willingly let me snap a photo of him and the baby at our coffee date after the ultrasound.

According to the tech, our baby is beautiful and just fine. Yeah! She's also measuring at 22 weeks, four days ahead of schedule. So in my head that means that we are four days closer to meeting our little one than we originally thought!
