For the past couple of months, the highlight of my day has been getting to see a certain four year old. What she will say or ask is always a surprise and never fails to put a smile on my face. Today was no different.
"Can I sing you a song?"
Well, of course! She then proceeded to sing "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert. If you follow the link, you'll see that it's not exactly a "kids song," but she knew every word! Cutest thing ever!
There's a line in there about a dog that's buried under a tree in the back yard, that I guess she picked up on.
"My Mom had a dog named Otter that they buried in the back yard under a tree and well, that's probably what we'll do with our dog, Dixie."
Her Mom could probably read the surprised, sad look on my face so she informed me that Dixie was alive and healthy. Ah, but I like a girl who can plan ahead.
Thanks for brightening my day little buddy.

Better Than a New Dress
I had originally planned a post all about my new Easter dress and crossing another item off my 101 in 1001 list, but in light of the true meaning of Easter, my dress seemed irrelevant. So, instead of a new dress, I would like to share a song that has been stuck in my head since Sunday. Typically, this would be really annoying but I don't mind this one, it makes me smile.
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand
Now, I love dressing up as much as the next girl and a new dress will definitely make me giddy, but this truth well, it's even better! Praise God that He is risen and salvation is ours!
