Resurrection Day 2015

Resurrection Sunday in pictures:

Lunch at Granmarie and Gramps' house.

After lunch and naps, we set up a small egg hunt for the kids in the backyard. Their easter baskets were small this year and only included a toy camera for each of them, which they loved. The walked around saying "cheese" and pretending to take pictures of things and each other.

"Remi, can you fix this?"

Oops!

Remi wasn't that interested in finding the eggs after getting his camera, so it was left to Addy to find most of them. She would find one and pretend to take a picture of it.

Homemade ice pops for the win!

He is risen!
He is risen indeed!

'Tis the Season

Tis the season for watching the snow fall in your pjs,

for kid's vanilla steamers with a straw,

for sleepy snuggles and warm hats.

Tis the season for looking back on blessings from years before.

Tis the season for overindulging,

for sweet lil' bald spots

and for busy, messy houses.

Tis the season to read by the fire side,

or play under the tree.

Tis the season for making memories and starting new traditions.

This has been a busy holiday season for us this year. Even during the business, I think we've done a better job this year than ever before on staying true to the real meaning for the season, thanks to our sweet two year old and her love for the story of baby Jesus. I'm so thankful for her active mind that's so willing and eager to learn.

We've had a busy month, our calendar is full but so are our hearts.

Swimming, friends, sparklers, Popsicles and fireworks, you can't get much more American that.

Hope you all had a great holiday!

5 Years and Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday was our 5th Wedding Anniversary.

To celebrate five years as husband and wife, Matt and I both woke up at six am. This was totally unplanned and very uncommon, but also super fun. We made coffee and enjoyed breakfast on the patio, admiring the grass that Matt had laid the night before. Since the little one didn't wake up until almost nine, we were able to have a nice long uninterrupted date in the comfort of our own home.

When Addy did finally wake from her slumber, she was thrilled to play outside in her new backyard.

"I so cited have grass like Carcar!"

We've exchanged the traditional anniversary gifts every year and this year's gift was to be made out of wood. Since neither of us had time to carve up a piece of furniture, we stretched the wood perimeter a little; two bushes for Matt (the roots are made of wood right?) and a bird feeder that attracts Woodpeckers for me.

That night, we continued our anniversary celebration with "gourmet" hotdogs complete with homemade chipotle sauce on the patio. It was the perfect way to spend our special day, nothing fancy, super laid back and just our style.

The rest of the weekend was mostly spent in the backyard or at the pool.

After asking to go over to Granmarie's house for weeks, Addy finally got to show off her moves from swim lessons in Granmarie's "big pool."

She also did a little golfing,

hosted a picnic,

and played and played and played, as she would say.

Who doesn't love a three day weekend spent with family and celebrating five years of love?

How did you spend the long weekend?

Christmas is Almost Here!

Christmas is only days away and the Christmas spirit is going strong at the Danner house.

We have all of our presents bought, wrapped and under the tree, thanks to our sweet little helper.

The first of our Christmas guests arrived today. My brother came up just in time for a bike ride with Matt and his buddies and he brought a plethora of gifts with him. Our tree is over flowing with Christmas goodies.

While the boys are out mountain biking and braving the cold, Addy and I are enjoying a lazy day at home, watching Christmas movies and trying to perfect my homemade Peppermint Mocha.

Matt and his Dad have been working hard all week trying to get our house Christmas-ready and comfortable for all our guests. He let's Addy "help" him with some things and she loves it!

We've been wanting to paint and update our guest bathroom for forever and we finally got around to it. I wasn't a huge fan of the paper mache Orecks at first but it's grown on me. It's bold and statement making!

With Christmas coming up, we decided to give up on growing Addy's hair out and finally get rid of the mullet. Here she is last Sunday in her church attire, pre-haircut.

And here's the new do. I love it and wished my hair looked that good short.

What are your plans for Christmas?
I'm looking forward to church tomorrow and our Christmas eve service. What a treat it will be to worship with my family and our church family.

I also have to admit that I'm pretty anxious to find out what's in all those gifts. We have a special surprise for Addy that doesn't fit under the tree and I can't wait for her to see it.
