Five for Friday Anniversary Edition

Check out other Friday's here.

1. For our anniversary celebration, you suggested that one of us pick a restaurant and the other pick an activity and I might not have responded in the way I should have. I'm sorry! Whatever we do will be great, because we will be doing it together.
2. If it were up to you, we'd bike to a local brewery every date night and in the past I haven't had the best attitude about that. During our 5th year of marriage, I am going to work on my attitude.
3. Last year, our anniversary fell at a stressful time; waiting on a job, waiting on a house, lots of waiting. But we gave each other the same card and I think that's what I will remember years from now.
4. What a difference a year makes! We've seen a lot of answers to prayer and many blessings come our way this year and you never take that for grant it. You have such a thankful heart and I love that about you.
5. Today is our 4th anniversary. I can't wait to see what kind of memories we will make tonight and in the year to come. Thank you for being patient with as I grow as a wife and a mother.

Happy Anniversary!

P.S. I love you very very much! :)

A Little Addy Update

It's been a little while since Addy has had a post all her own and I think we're overdue for an update. Plus, she's been doing a lot of really cute things lately and I like to brag about her.

Yesterday, as we were getting ready for church, Addy found one of my old purses. She put it over her shoulder, walked out of the bathroom, turned around and waved bye-bye. Matt and I just stood there, somewhat shocked and maybe on the verge of tears. It was the sweetest thing and also one of the most grown up things she's done.

Today, she decided to take her Baby Doll grocery shopping with us.

She's such a good Momma, not leaving her baby in the hot car.

This girl still loves to read, just like her Momma. We went to the library a couple of weeks ago. Addy was so excited that she wouldn't sit still long enough to read through a book. She kept bringing more over to me. We left with a stack of books and I've enjoyed having something new to read to her. There's only so many times I can read "Curious George and the Bunny."

Eating is still a struggle for Addy, but even on hard days, Matt and I go to bed talking about how sweet she is and how much we love her. We're so lucky to be her parents.

The Good Life

Sometimes I feel like my theme song could be "Good Life" by One Republic. I don't know a lot of the lyrics and I might be totally clueless about what the song is really about but when it comes on the radio I always turn it up and sing along (shamelessly at the top of my lungs, poor Addy).

But in all seriousness, I am blessed beyond what I deserve and that song is stuck in my head today.

After a great weekend, Addy and I are having one of those days where we hit every green light and instead of screaming when I tried to feed her, she signed "please" for her sweet potatoes. What a welcome change in behavior!

Today is just a good day

I keep looking at pictures from this weekend, dying over how cute these two are and wondering when they turned into little kids. Wasn't it just yesterday that they were going for their first swim?

Yep, "this has gotta be the good life!"

Five for Friday

Five for Friday

1. You volunteered to bring corn to a party this weekend after telling me how you don't like the fresh corn I bought. Clever!
2. Yesterday, two people told me about other people telling them how great you are. Does that make sense? Basically, you're awesome. But I knew that before they told me.
3. I've missed spending the evenings with you while you've been sick and going to bed early this week
4. You found the Smash soundtrack online for me.
5. Even though they attract bees, you bought a honeysuckle plant for our yard!

P.S. I love you :)

A Mother's Day Treat

This Mother's Day was extra special. I realize it was only my second one as a Mom but I really couldn't think of a better way to celebrate. Not only did I get to spend a Saturday catching up with an old friend and shopping with my Mom, but I also got to spend Sunday with her Mom, my Grandma and my two aunts, who are also moms! Get-togethers like this don't happen as often as they used to and they are such a treat when they do.

This is what I came home to on Saturday. So sweet!

Celebrating Mother's Day with two of Addy's Great-Grandmas!

Her Great Grandpa sang the "Indian Song" to her as he bounced her on his knee.

My cousin, Ann (and Ben!) were so sweet to Addy

Two for Tuesday

Check out other Fridays here.

I realize that "Two for Tuesday" is a little bit of a rip off, but since we were out of town this weekend and there aren't any numbers that start with an "M" for Monday and "Ten for Tuesday" sounded a little overwhelming, this is what you get. Thanks for being OK with that. Wink!

1. You chased Addy around while I played Rummy with my Mom, Aunts and Grandmas for what seemed like minutes but was probably hours. Thank you!
2. After listening to me complain about being car sick from reading on the way to LC, you told me (in a rather firm voice) not to read on the way home. My stomach was much happier when we got home.

P.S. I love you :)

What the 505 Hasn't Got

In June, we will have lived in Albuquerque for four years. We've come to love the 505 these past four years, we have no plans of leaving and I hardly ever miss my hometown in southern New Mexico. But, there are few areas where Las Cruces has Albuquerque beat. The LC is home to my parents, some really good old friends and the most delicious Mexican food ever! During this past trip, I discovered a few other things that need to be added to that list:

- A Farmer's Market
After coffee on Saturday morning, my bestie and I browsed 3 (or more) blocks of homemade/homegrown goodness in downtown Las Cruces. I didn't buy anything but I had a great time being outside and hanging out with her. I wish our farmer's market were at all comparable.

- Clean Discount Stores
I love to shop at Marshall's and Ross while in the LC. We have two of each of those in Albuquerque and I HATE going because they are ghetto, unorganized and it takes forever to check out! But in Cruces, they are clean and I usually have my Mom or BFF with me to help dig through the clothes to find treasures.

- Fun Dressing Rooms
I may be shopping in the wrong stores but I've never seen this in any of our dressing rooms and I thought it was super cute!

So, that's my little shout out for the 575. Thanks for a great trip Cruces!

Strong in my Weakness

Addy and I had a rough start this morning. Someone didn't want to eat their breakfast. There was a lot of crying, a lot of screaming and a lot of frustration from both parties. After 45 minutes and only two bites of yogurt, Addy went to bed for an early morning nap.

I was discouraged and tired and it was only 8:30 in the a.m.

Unfortunately, Addy's attitude hadn't changed after her nap, she was whiny and grumpy the rest of the day and didn't take as long of an afternoon nap as I have come to count on. So, we headed out to Starbucks with her crying most of the way.

When we got home, I decided some blanket time was in order and as I set there sipping my Starbucks and watching Addy out of the corner of my eye, I suddenly got my second wind. She's just so cute when she's playing by herself and I love watching her explore the little world around her. She leans back on the pillows and if she spots me looking at her, she gives me a big smile and then goes on playing. You can't stay frustrated with this little girl. She's just too sweet and I'm praying that she keeps that sweet demeanor for a long, long time.

The best thing about today wasn't the large iced coffee I purchased but me realizing how in equipped I really am. Today might have been the first time I earnestly prayed for wisdom and strength in a while. I've just begun this journey of Motherhood and I can see that I am going to need a lot of help. I need to spend more time in the word so that on days like today, I can recite verses like Proverbs 22:6 to myself.

As our pastor said this Sunday:"Parents need to know Bible." And I need to know more than I do but thank goodness that God is gracious and strong in the midst of my weakness.

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:9

Five for Friday

See previous Friday's here.

1. When I asked you how you felt about turning 27, you said you were just happy.
2. You frequently tell me how much you love our life.
3. When you got home from Mountain Biking last week you said you were "Alive, physically and spiritually."
4. On your Birthday we watched "The Muppet's," all three of us.
5. You got up with Addy at 5:30 this morning and I got to sleep in.

P.S. I love you :)
