Addy's First Trip to the Beach

We spent a lot of time on the beach while in Hawaii. This was Addy's first trip to the beach and by our last day, she was in love.

One of the best things about vacation is eating Cheetos on the beach.

The beach is very dirty. Can you imagine how much fun that diaper was to change?

Lunch on the beach

Sand all over her face.

Addy and Grandma; beach buddies

The beach is so much fun!

Last day on the beach, she wanted to play in the water all by herself.

Those waves were a little to strong for miss-independent

Our little beach baby!

What could be better than snuggle time on the beach?

All seven of us, spending our last day in paradise on a beautiful beach!

Addy's First Plane Ride

Our vacation to Hawaii included two major firsts for Addy; her first plane ride and her first trip to the beach.

I started preparing for her inaugural plan ride months in advance by asking for advice from experienced moms and researching activities for toddlers. It must have paid off because over all, the trip went really well. Addy probably only slept for about an hour the entire day but I'd say she did pretty good given the circumstances.

I don't think she knew what a plane was before this trip, but she can now point them out in the sky.

On the second and the longest leg of our trip, she fell asleep on my lap. This NEVER happens so I was in heaven, until the annoying flight attendant came on the PA and woke her up. She never fell back asleep.

Going over the emergency landing procedure.

We were prepared for just about every scenario on the plane except for three poopy diapers. Your options for changing a diaper on the plane are in the very small, very gross bathroom, or at your seat. I tried both and neither were ideal. The passengers sitting next to us were troopers and super nice but poor Addy became known for the smell of her dirty diaper. The best part was when the flight attendant said: "I'll just go ahead and double bag that."

Thankfully, we didn't have to deal with any stinky diapers on the ride home because Addy slept the whole way. The red eye has it's perks.

Do you see George back there? He is quite the traveller.

Five for Fridays

Check out other Fridays here.

1. Your souvenir from Hawaii was a lunch box
2. When we got home, you asked if you could be put on blanket time
3. "I thought we were just going to go play in the waves."
4. After riding scooters in Hawaii, you wanted to renege on our deal that if we bought a Wrangler, you'd never ask about a motorcycle again.
5. Thanks for passing your skin tone along to Addy, I am sure she will appreciate her ability to tan in the future.

P.S. I love you :)

The Aftermath

Aloha!

We just got back this weekend from a wonderful family trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. We had a great time but after taking the red-eye home Saturday night, we've been playing catch up. My house looks a little bit like the aftermath of a tornado; piles of dirty clothes, clean clothes to put away and suitcases halfway unpacked.

All three of us slept in until almost nine yesterday morning. It's only a four hour time difference but we're still having trouble figuring out when we're supposed to be doing what, especially Addy. She was glad to get back home to all her toys and her chores. She jumped right back into pushing in the chairs and organizing everything.

"This pantry hasn't been organized in days! Good thing we came home when we did!"

We're definitely having some Hawaii withdrawals. When I pulled into the bank today and rolled down the window, I swear it smelt just like the salty beach air and all Addy wants to eat are Cheetos. She might have picked up a few bad eating habits on vacation.

I'm slowly sorting through the many photos from our trip and hoping to get some posted soon. Until then, I'll leave you with a few pics of Addy taken on my phone. Question: When you travel, do you take a regular camera and your iPhone? I did both but looking back it seems a little unnecessary since I just have a point and shoot.

Aloha!

Addy Says "Hi!" and a Few Other Words

Yesterday, I opened the car door to get Addy out of her car seat, she looked up at me and said "Hi!" I'm not sure if it was the first time she said it, but it was so cute and very clear. It made me think about the other words she says. At 16 months, she doesn't have a long list of words but we're able to communicate pretty well and it seems like she is learning a new word every week. Matt laughs and says it's like we have our own little language, which makes me smile. I love that I am the one around her all day and that I understand better than anyone what she's trying to communicate. Don't get me wrong though, most of the time, I have no idea what she's saying. I'm sure it's probably more frustrating for her than it is for me, but I'm enjoying watching her learn. So, here's a list of words we think Addy says on a regular basis:

"Hi!"
"Wallwas" - All done
"Da-da" - Da-da, Dog and Duck
"Da!" - Dog or Duck
"Ball"
"Ba" - Bear
"Momma"
"Ba-ba" - Bottle
"Ooge!" - George (The Curious one)
"Mmm" - I'm pretty sure this means Cow, or Moo, which is what a cow says.
"Peez" - Please, this one is rare. She learned to sign please, her own version, pretty early on but has since stopped doing it. So, when we tell her to say please, she either kind of says it, or reaches for my hand so I can help her sign it.
"Eyes"

I've probably said this before, but this stage is so much fun.

P.S. Check out Addy's cute 4th of July outfit.

Six for Saturday

1. You quoted Michael Scott when describing my current state of emotions. "Snip, snap, snip, snap."
2. You said that sometimes I'm just an 85 year old lady trapped in a 25 year old's body; it's sad but true
3. You've told me multiple times this week, what a good Mother I am, that affirmation is so needed sometimes
4. We stayed up really late together last night to finish Breaking Bad's Season 4
5. "Addy, do you not understand the meaning of a "marathon?"
6. When you left to go to work this morning, you had the best attitude and said that working on Saturday was just a part of the job, a job that you're thankful for.

P.S. I love you :)

June in the 505

Does anyone else feel like each month has gone by faster than the next? Seriously, where has the time gone?

It's been incredibly hot around these parts and our Air Conditioner is threatening to give out, but I've been trying really hard not to complain, because it's summer. Summer time makes me smile. So, here's what we've been up to this summer.

This month we celebrated Matt's Mom's Birthday.
Happy Birthday Grandma!

I got to hang out with these cute kiddos a lot. They're both pretty cute kids, but they're even cuter together.

We discovered the splash park this month and it's now one of our favorite places to spend a hot summer afternoon.

One of the best parts about the splash park, is the 3 hour long nap Addy usually takes afterwards. After a nap that long, she wakes up in the BEST mood.

Every time we turned around, Addy was doing something new. She loves imitating Mom and Dad.

Matt has been working so hard, but he always makes time for his girls. One Saturday, he took Addy on a fun daddy/daughter outing to the aquarium, biopark and the bookstore, while I enjoyed a nice morning to myself.

The library has been another summer favorite, especially for two book worms like Addy and her Momma.

Addy dropped her morning nap so she's been watching a lot of Curious George while Momma gets ready and taking little cat naps in the car. I was a little nervous about transitioning to one nap but I have been loving our mornings together lately.

Addy has two chores; pushing in the chairs and organizing the tubberware. She is such a good helper!

Well, that wraps up June!
Happy Summertime friends!

Addy's First Haircut

June was a big month for Miss Adelyne, not only did she drop her morning nap and move to a big girl car seat, but she also got her first big girl haircut!

Matt had trimmed her hair a couple of times, just to clean it up a bit, but we were scared to go anywhere near her bangs. Over the past couple of months, her bangs had been growing and falling in her face and poor thing was having a hard time seeing.

So, after asking around a bit, I finally made an appointment at Jungle Cuts.

Addy freaked out a little at first but with her lovey and snack in hand, she calmed down. That single tear stayed right there on her cheek almost the whole time.

Addy's sweet Auntie Morgan and Carter Boy came along to take some pics.

Ah! I love seeing that pretty face, not hiding behind her bangs.

The new do! It's layered in the back so it doesn't look as "mullletish."

Jungle Cuts is a super cute place, after her haircut, Addy got to pick out a toy.

The ball seemed like a pretty good pick until....

she found the duck, and Addy loves ducks.

Isn't she pretty? And so grown up! Nothing like getting your bangs trimmed to make you look months older :)

Thanks Morgan and Carter for coming along and making the day so special!
