"Pishas" of Addy

Addy and I had some free time the other day in which we really didn't know what to do with ourselves. We wandered around the house for a good 15 minutes until I decided it would be fun to take some fall photos of Miss Adelyne in her "hipster" outfit.

I went old school and got out my real camera; nothing special just a point and shoot that's maybe a step above my camera phone.

As I was taking pictures, Addy grabbed my phone, held it up and said "Pishas, Pishas!" and tried to take pictures of me taking pictures of her. It was super cute!

She only managed to take one picture which was my blurry foot, but she was super proud of herself.

Yesterday I saw a commercial for Nikon which said something like: "Just because your phone has a camera doesn't mean the photos are worth sharing." It featured a bunch of blurry camera phone photos. I am so guilty of that! But the pictures from my phone are just as good as my other camera so why bother with the other one?

So, here are the photos I ended up with. I am definitely not going to quit my day job anytime soon to take up photography but I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. I love how they just capture Addy in this season; her love for pumpkins, or "balls" as she calls them and the way she is looking off into the distance, probably just watching a passing car but that's how she's learning and growing. Her world is getting bigger and bigger everyday.

Five for Fridays

Check out other Fridays here.

1. You like to play "Mouthwash Charades"
2. You wore the cardigan I got you to work this week and you looked super handsome
3. You said you would buy Addy and I Minnie Mouse Slippers because "they feel pillows to my feet!"
4. You gave me a new appreciation for the Gieco commercials; "As happy as a slinky on an escalator." Makes me laugh
5. Not only did you come to watch Addy over your lunch break but you also fed her and changed a poopy diaper.

P.S. I love you :)

Balloon Fiesta Week

The Balloon Fiesta was weeks ago and since then we've had family in town as well as a little cold that decided to visit all three members of our household. Thankfully, we all seem to be better now and I have some free time to upload pictures. So, here is our week of balloons via the iphone.

Up before the sun, bundled up in Carter's sweet bike trailer, but no balloons. Bummer!

Getting up at 5:30 makes for a long Saturday!

We have a great view from our house and Addy got to see balloons or "balls" almost every morning.

How cute are these PJ's? They have boots and cowgirl hats on them. Handy-me-downs are the best!

At some point during the week, George got all dressed up. I think this was Grandma's doing. I took a pic and every time I let Addy scan through my photos, she would laugh at this one.

Sick little baby still woke in time to the balloons.

We camped out in our front yard, hillbilly style.

This was my attempt at being artsy.

We were able to take Addy and Carter to the Fiesta on the very last day. It was a beautiful day but I think we might have had our expectations set a little too high. They hated it. At least one of them were crying the entire time. Those silly New Mexican kids aren't used to cold weather or early mornings.

Parenthood and Baseball

Matt is out tonight so I get an evening to myself, catching up on Parenthood and New Girl episodes. Does anyone else watch Parenthood? The only other person I know who's a fan is the Pioneer Woman, so that means it must be cool, right?

We were watching the world series before he left which was actually pretty exciting because not only did Pablo Sandoval, from the Giants, hit 3 home runs in a row, but the pitcher for the Tigers had the last name "Albuquerque". I think it might have been spelled differently but how cool is that? We just happen to live in Albuquerque and we have a Sandoval County! Does anyone else think that's blog worthy? Now I'm torn, who do I route for?!?!?

Speaking of baseball, Addy has become quite the little sports fan. Matt taught her how to say "Touchdown," with her hands in the air and she even claps like Matt does, fist into palm. She actually asked to watch football the other day. The funniest thing was when a dirt bike race was on TV and a biker crashed. Addy freaked out and started crying, but then we turned the channel to a football game. Some guy got tackled and she cheered.

Here's our little cheerleader in new favorite hat. It's a makeup bag that I let her play with. She used to carry all her puzzle pieces around in it, until she discovered how perfectly it fit on her head. She wears it all the time now.

Bless the Lord Oh My Soul!

We sang this song, by Matt Redman, in church a couple weeks ago and for some reason, I woke up with it stuck in my head this morning. I only knew one line so I found it on iTunes and downloaded it to my phone. I've listened to it about 10 times this afternoon. I want to memorize all the lyrics and engrave them on my brain so I don't forget them.

The title of the song is 10,000 Reasons and is based on Psalms 103, which talk about all the great things God has done for us. The whole song is great, but the first verse is standing out to me today.

"Bless the Lord oh my soul, oh my soul!
Worship his holy name.
Sing like never before, oh my soul!
The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning,
it's time to sing your song again.
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me,
let me be singing when the evening comes."

I love that last part; no matter what happens during the day, may I still be singing your praises when the evening comes. It seems so easy to talk about God's mercies being new every morning but we often don't talk about the evening when your tired, when things didn't go the way you planned.

I so wish I had heard this song when we were in the midst of Matt searching for a job. The morning of an interview would come and we'd pray and pray that everything would work out and God would give him the job. I don't think that we ever prayed for our hearts to still be happy, to still be content when he came home without the job.

We've been studying the Psalms in bible study and I'm learning that it's ok to pour your heart out to God, to tell him the desires of your heart. You don't have to play some game with him, thinking that if you don't show all your cards, your wish might not come true. Does anyone else ever feel like that?

David, poured his heart out to God and in several Psalms, he lamented. But at the end, he always ended with praise, trusting in God.

I'm learning that it's OK to ask God for what I want, for what I long for; but I hope and I pray that when I don't get what I want, when the evening comes, that I will still be singing his praises, like never before.

"10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)"
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

You're rich in love, and You're slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

Five for Friday

Check out other Friday's here.

1. You fell asleep watching Mythbusters
2. You've thanked me for almost every meal I've made this week. (except that one you didn't eat)
3. You thought it would be fun to make the three of us matching PJ's.
4. You thanked me for working so hard on our Guest room make over.
5. You picked out the coolest quilt for our make over and I think that it being from the little boy's section of Target, makes it even cooler.

Since I forgot last week's Five for Friday, here's a freebie:
6. You are a great Dad, waking up in the middle of the night to tend to our sick child.

P.S. I love you :)

Outfit Envy

I've been having a lot of fun dressing my toddler in cute fall outfits and even feeling a little envious of some of them, wishing I could pull them off. Since I'm not quite as creative with my own wardrobe and will probably never do a "What I Wore Wednesday," here's a "What Addy Wore" post!

This cute sweater is actually a dress that she wore last year. The hat was a great find at the Children's Place for only $3.

For the most part, she's a pretty good sport about me taking her picture, but this Sunday morning, she was not having it. I found both the sweater dress and the shoes ($1) at the Mommy's Market consignment sale. The flower in her hair was from her Auntie Morgan.

This jacket was another great Mommy Market find. I think it makes her look like a chef!

This is my favorite; pig tails and rain boots.

This outfit was a gift from Grandma Ree. Addy likes to take the boots off and their pretty much impossible to get back on, but that's OK because they are adorable. This picture doesn't show their adorableness well.

She's starting to become more aware of her clothes and accessories. Yesterday she showed off her new boots to the postman and she loves to dress all her stuffed animals and baby dolls. At some point, I'd love to get her a little dress up box to fill up with old clothes for her and her animals. Maybe for Christmas?

September in the 505

I'm having a hard time remembering what all we were up to this past month. But from the photos I've taken, I can tell you that....

Addy turned 18 months old....

...and entertained her buddy Sophia, Piglet, Mr. Monkey, Bear and Lady Bug with a show of some kind. But it looks like she was the only one paying attention.

She also had fun dressing her animals in shoes and other clothes that she's out grown.

Addy got a new hat...

...and rocked the pig tails on several outings.

Momma enjoyed some extra snuggle time...

...and Dad bought Addy a new toy.

Grandpa stopped by a few times...

...Mom and Addy went shopping...

... and Dad built a jungle gym on the bed!

We spent a lot of time outside...

....went to story time with our friend...

... and watched some Saturday morning cartoons.

Grandma and Grandpa spent a lot of time in Oregon waiting for Baby Tate to make his debut, but they managed to stop by for a visit on their way home.

Grandma Ree spent some quality reading time with Miss Adelyne.

And the most exciting thing about September was that my newest nephew, Tate Jackson came into our world. Unfortunately, he's in Portland which happens to be miles away from Albuquerque. It's absolutely killing me to not be able to snuggle that little guy but I'm looking forward to our trip up North to see his cute face in person.

Happy Fall Ya'll!

It's October 1st and I think it's safe to say that Fall is officially here.

I'm always hesitant to say that because as soon as I do, we always have a really hot day; but I think we are in the clear now.

The Balloon Fiesta starts next weekend and the leaves are starting to change colors.

It's a great time of year!

Remember when I was a total grump about Fall coming and Summer ending? What was I thinking?
